Popular producer and UIM Records founder, Andrew Myrie, more popularly known as, Anju Blaxxx is set to stand trial in his scamming case on April 28.
The producer was handed the date during a recent court appearance in Bismarck, North Dakota. He is accused of mail and wire fraud in connection with telemarketing fraud in relation to an alleged lottery scam which defrauded elderly U.S. citizens of millions of dollars in exchange for promised lottery winnings. He was detained by law enforcement officials in Florida in February.
Though his case has been tied to that of former ZIP FM disc jock, Deon-ville O’Hara, more popularly known as ZJ Wah Wa who plead guilty in a similar scamming case months ago. However, a court official with knowledge of Myrie’s case told the Jamaica Observer that the cases are in no way linked.
Myrie was initially granted bail in February but that decision was reversed after it was determined that he could be a flight risk.
Myrie is one of Jamaica’s top producers and is credited with various hits for the likes of Vybz Kartel, Popcaan, Bugle and various others. Despite being behind bars, the producer released his new compilation, the Mildew Riddim which features Mavado, Alkaline, Blak Diamon, Popcaan, Christopher Martin and Bugle.
