Recently Grammy-nominated dancehall star, Devin Di Dakta says he will be attending the 59th Grammy Awards in the wake of his debut EP getting a nod in the Best Reggae Album category.
The 2015 Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall winner, whose real name is Anthony Escoffery Clarke, was nominated for the Sly & Robbie compilation, Reggae For Her alongside 2014 Digicel Rising Stars finalist, J.L. They will go up against six-time reggae Grammy winner, Ziggy Marley for his self-titled album, Raging Fyah for Everlasting and two American acts: J Boog for Rose Petals and Rebelution for Falling Into Place.
Devin recently was granted a U.S. visa and will attend the pre-show – when the Best Reggae Album will be announced – at The Staples Center in Los Angeles and plans to attend both the Grammy pre and post-show party. He is scheduled to leave for Los Angeles along with manager, Shelly-Ann Curran on February 10, two days before the show.
This nomination makes Devin, aged 21, the youngest Jamaican to be nominated for a Grammy.
