OMIJamaican singing sensation, OMI continues to carry over the strong wave of momentum he enjoyed in 2015 to this year as he has earned a pair of nominations for the upcoming Billboard Music Awards.

Only fitting considering OMI topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for six weeks with the house-infused remix of his hit single, Cheerleader, the singer has been nominated for the Top Selling Song award for Cheerleader. He contends with British singing sensation, Adele as well as Grammy-winning Canadian singer, The Weeknd and American rap star, Wiz Khalifa for the honour.

Additionally, OMI is up for the Top New Artist award alongside Fetty Wap, Charlie Puth, Silentó and Bryson Tiller.

Billboard Music Awards nominations are determined by several factors, including album and digital song sales as well as radio airplay and social interaction across social media and popular online music destinations.

This year’s Billboard Music Awards takes place in Las Vegas on May 22, hosted by Ludacris and Ciara.
