Shauna Chin, the former girlfriend and manager of dancehall star, Gully Bop has inked a deal with American record label, Diamond Music Empire just over a week after her bitter break up from the entertainer.
Chin signed a three-year contract with the label this week and has already landed a performance gig at BritJam. According to Chin, who released her first single, Wife Me Name in July of last year, she talked with Diamond Music Empire about a deal while on a trip to the States following the break up.
“This is a company that I voiced a song for, My Life, couple months ago,” she told IRIE FM on Friday. “Outta nowhere, dem call me and seh ‘Chin, weh yah do to yuhself girl? You have talent…why yuh a mek dat stress out suh for? Is your time now…it’s time for you to take a stand and do something for yourself.”
One of the first songs Chin plans to release via the label is Padlock Him, a diss song aimed at Bop, making light of the very public argument in late December that caused their breakup, which included Chin hitting Bop in the head with a padlock after she alleged Bop was trying to seriously harm her. The song features LA Lewis, who has been critical of her in the past.
Bop denied Chin’s allegations of abuse and drug use following their breakup and labelled her a cheat and a gold digger.
Both have done media rounds since the incident telling all about their issues, though Chin said she would be there for Bop should he choose to make changes in his life.
