Highly acclaimed reggae musician, Stephen Marley saw a lot of success stem from the Root of Life; now he hopes the Fruit of Life will help the entertainer taste more success as he plans to unveil his fourth studio album this July.
Marley will be unveiling his latest project, Revelation Part 2: The Fruit of Life on July 22, two days before he’s scheduled to complete a two-month tour of the United States. This album is a follow up to his 2011 set, Revelation Part I: The Root of Life, which garnered Marley a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album, one of three Grammy wins as a solo act and eight overall (including producer credits and his features with Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers) for the man they nickname ‘Ragga.’
Revelation Part 2: The Fruit of Life will feature hits such as Rock Stone feat. Capleton and Sizzla and Ghetto Boy feat. Bounty Killer & Cobra, two of three instant grat tracks offered to listeners (via iTunes), as well as Scars on my Feet feat. Waka Flocka Flame. Fans who pre-order the digital version of the album will receive three more instant grat tracks – on June 10, June 24 and July 8 – while those buying the physical version will get a download card. The digital version will contain 23 tracks, while the physical version boasts 22 tracks.
Music lovers can pre-order Marley’s new album as early as May 27.
Most of the songs on Revelation Part 2: The Fruit of Life – 18 to be exact – are new and feature a plethora of international stars such as lead singer of the The Roots, Black Thought, Shaggy, Busta Rhymes, Iggy Azalea, Rakim, DJ Khaled, Dead Prez, Pitbull and Rick Ross while Marley’s brothers, Damian ‘Jr. Gong Marley, Jo-Mersa Marley and Ky-Mani Marley are also collaborators on the compilation. Unlike the Root of Life, which was a roots reggae record, the Fruit of Life will offer a wide range of sounds which gives it a more crossover appeal.
Marley’s previous solo releases were Mind Control in 2007 and Mind Control Acoustic in 2009.
