Internationally-renowned Jamaican songstress, Tessanne Chin and her husband of four years, Michael Cuffe Jr. have spoken out for the first time since reports of a split between them emerged Friday.
Originally, the Jamaica STAR reported that Chin and Cuffe, whose fourth wedding anniversary was a day prior to the story’s release, were separated; citing sources close to the couple who said Cuffe had moved out of their matrimonial home and is staying with friends. Subsequent reports revealed Cuffe resigned from his long-time post at FAME FM, with rumours he may be heading to Canada to pursue similar opportunities.
Other reports even went as far as to claim Chin had cheated on Cuffe. However, on Monday, the couple took to social media to address the matter somewhat. Chin posted a picture on her Instagram page with the message,“I truly appreciate your love and concern and I’m grateful for your respect of our privacy at this time.”
Cuffe was more hard-hitting with his response, taking to Twitter to lash out against the media for what he called ‘irresponsible’ journalism.
“The public’s interest in our personal life, though flattering, is a bit uncanny. I ask the media who I served for so long to be respectful,” he tweeted. “We should strive to rise above irresponsible and careless journalism. Lets continue to uplift our audience and not inspire ignorance.”
He also hinted that things between himself and Chin are not as bad as they seem, saying “Tessanne is and always will be my best friend who I absolutely love!”
