Wiz Khalifa confirmed for Reggae Sumfest 2014

Wiz KhalifaAfter going in an R&B direction with their international artist selections the last two years, Reggae Sumfest gone back to the hip-hop well by this weekend confirming Wiz Khalifa as the latest addition to the show’s lineupthis summer.

The North Dakota born rapper, who rose to universal prominence with his Billboard chart-topping single,Black and Yellow, will perform on International Night 1of the show on July 18. He is the first rapper to perform at Reggae Sumfest since Nicki Minaj made her mark on the event in 2011.

Wiz Khalifa is known for producing albums such asShow and Prove, Deal or no Deal, Rolling Papersand O.N.I.F.C (Only N***a in First Class), the latter two albums each debuting at number two on the Billboard Top 200 album chart. He is currently promoting his upcoming album, Blacc Hollywood, which is slated for release sometime this year and released the first single off the compilation, We Dem Boyz in February. The album will feature Grammy-winning singer, Adele as well as Miley Cyrus and Juicy J.

He is a four-time Grammy nominee who has dropped hit singles such as Young, Wild and Free (featuring Snoop Dogg and Bruno Mars), Remember You and Work Hard, Play Hard.

Wiz will join The Voice: Season 5 winner, Tessanne Chin on the Reggae Sumfest 2014 bill as well asJah Cure, Chronixx, Sanchez and many more.

Reggae Sumfest 2014 will take place from July 13-19 at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Complex in Montego Bay and is being sponsored by The Gleaner Company Ltd., Jamaica Tourist Board, Digicel, Iberostar, Pepsi, Secrets and IRIE FM.
