Jamaica’s ‘Curvy Diva’ is set to tell it straight on the mic as media personality, Yanique Barrett, has inked a record deal with Good Good Production.

The Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall host has long been rumoured to be making the transition to music and has been given the opportunity to do just that, with her debut single, Lifestyle, to be released in the coming days.

In a statement issued via her management team, Street Cred Jamaica, Barrett insisted she would be making adjustments to her image to make the transition more fluent and that music has long been her passion.

“Music makes me happy. It’s something I’m passionate about. I was excited when Good Good Production approached me with this opportunity and I can’t wait to take my fans on this amazing journey with me,” she said.

“Everything will change. Persons will get to know me a little better because I put how I feel and what I’m going through in my songs, a lot of things that I don’t talk publicly about will be addressed in my singles.”

Good Good CEO, Evan ‘Zum’ Powell said of the move, “Many artistes have been interested in working with us over the years but we never decided to go full sail until now. We think Curvy Diva already has the dancehall image and influence and so we were excited to be a part of her artiste transition from the ground floor.”

Yanique’s stage name will be The Curvy Diva and plans to mix genres in her recordings, from dancehall to R&B, as well as hip-hop.

Most recently, Barrett hosted at the annual BritJam party series in Montego Bay, which concludes on March 15.
