Popular ZIP FM disc jockey and producer, ZJ Chrome emerged as the biggest winner at the 2016 Youth View Awards on Saturday at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston, capturing three honours on the night.
Though he was not present at the show, Chrome walked away with Favourite Producer, Favourite Party Selector, and Favourite Radio DJ honours. The CR203 Records owner is known for projects such as Music Without Rules, the TNS Riddim and various others
Despite serving a life sentence on murder charges, Vybz Kartel continues to captivate the minds of young people, taking home two awards: Favourite Artiste Male Local and Favourite Dancehall Artiste. Kartel continued to prove his dominance in dancehall in 2015, with hits such as Pressure and Which League.
Dancehall diva, Ishawna also took home two awards, winning the Young Hot & Hype Female category as well as the honour of Favourite Fashion Icon Female.
Other notable winners included dancehall star, Alkaline, who won the Young Hot and Hype Male award, Beres Hammond who took home the Favourite Vintage Artist award, Jamaican sprinting legend, Usain Bolt for Celebrity Role Model of the Year, Miss Kitty for Media Personality of the Year, TVJ’s Intense for Best Entertainment Show and Ding Dong, who was named Favourite Dancer.
Performers on the night included special guest and Guam-born pop star, Pia Mia who performed her hit song, Do It Again and received strong approval from the crowd. Tanto Blacks delved into his major hit, Real Rich in typical, high-energy style while Dexta Daps got in tune with his legions of female fans with his hit, Morning Love.
