Dancehall star, Alkaline, who had been held in police custody since Thursday as they questioned him in relation to the January murder of Rohan Morris, has been released after a judge ordered Monday that the entertainer be let go if he was not formally charged.
His lawyer, Peter Champagnie filed a habeas corpus to trigger his release, which led said judge to make the ruling.
A defiant Alkaline, whose real name is Earlan Bartley, would not budge during questioning as a superintendent involved in the matter told the court that the deejay responded to every question – over 100 of them in fact – with “I am innocent of these charges.”
He was let go at around 3:15 p.m. Monday afternoon without charge.
