Blues on the Green is an annual concert staged by the United States Embassy, with this year marking the 24th edition. It is a cultural event celebrating African-American history month and the contributions of African-Americans to society, with the theme this year mirroring Jamaica’s motto, Out of Many One.
The concert was initially scheduled to take place on February 26, a day after Jamaica’s general elections, but was postponed due to logistical issues.
Barrino, who won the American Idol talent show in 2004 is known for hits such as the Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping single I Believe, When I See You and Truth Is, with her debut album, Free Yourself certified platinum and nabbing three Grammy nominations.
