I-Octane Reggae SumfestAfter a war of words and nominations being put in as to who should close Dancehall Night at Reggae Sumfest, organizers of the show have taken the safe bet, opting for I-Octane to close the show for the second straight year.

Summerfest Productions CEO, Johnny Gourzong announced that I-Octane would finish Dancehall Night set to take place on July 17, saying at Reggae Sumfest’s official launch in Kingston this past weekend, “I-Octane is closing Dancehall Night! No ifs, buts or maybes!”

I-Octane has since accepted the news, saying he will bring his best to the show in an effort to better his closing set from last year.

This news comes after weeks of back and forth between himself and fellow singjay, Mr. Vegas after Octane challenged Vegas to close the show following disparaging comments Vegas made about him closing the show as well as his campaign to get said closing spot. Vegas responded by saying Octane should close to go given he thinks of himself as the new king of Dancehall, saying he would consider closing the show himself if asked.

Veteran deejay, Kiprich, who has previously closed STING, also threw his hat in the ring to close the show, as long as the pay was good enough.

Reggae Sumfest will take place from July 13-19 in Montego Bay.
