Polarizing dancehall artist, Ishawna, has been nominated for Best Female Artiste at the upcoming International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA), set to take place on October 4 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The Downsound Records recording artiste has been a prominent fixture in the dancehall scene over the last year with songs such as Restraining Order, Cheerful Giver and Try My Love becoming staples on the Jamaican dancehall charts while her collaborative effort alongside acclaimed American musician, Pitbull (Dance Floor) has gained traction internationally.
In a statement regarding her nomination, Ishawna said, “It’s an honour to receive a nomination acknowledging your hard work, and I’m very grateful for the support of my fans worldwide and the team around me. Congratulations to all IRAWMA nominees and I’m looking forward to attending this event and having a good time.”
The singer, also known for singles such as Need Love and , is up against the Queen of Dancehall, Lady Saw, Spice and Tifa for the award.
