Reigning Miss Universe Jamaica, Kaci Fennell has slowly but surely positioned herself as one of the early favourites going into the upcoming Miss Universe pageant, set for this Sunday in Doral, Florida.
Fennell, 22, has been a hit throughout the pre-pageant festivities as one of 88 contestants competing for the coveted crown. The Kingston-native rocked the runway Wednesday night at the Florida International University (FIU) Arena as she participated in the preliminary competition, which consisted of an evening gown competition, swimsuit competition and costume segment as they vied for the ratings of judges and fans alike. Fans worldwide were allowed to vote on Facebook for their favourites in the competition by liking and sharing the contestants’ photos on the social media website.
At the end of the night, Fennell stamped her authority on the show, scoring a 9.098 out of 10 for the evening gown segment after donning a stunning red gown as well as a 9.289 out of 10 for her swimwear (see above photo). Her combined score of 9.194 was good enough for second overall behind Miss Universe Spain, Desiree Cordero, who scored a 9.294 out of 10 overall.
The preliminary competition was used as a measure to help judges wield down the field of 88 to 15 come the main show on Sunday, which can be seen on NBC live at 8 p.m.
