Kafinal wins Juno award for Best Reggae Recording

Kafinal and U RoyToronto-based Jamaican entertainer, Kafinal has ended Exco Levi’s run of four consecutive wins of the Best Reggae Recording award at Canada’s Juno Awards after winning the honour for his single, Nah Complain featuring legendary toaster, U Roy.

For the man who is dubbed ‘Canada’s Festival King,’ this is his first Juno award, Canada’s equivalent to the Grammys. He collected the award at the 45th annual staging of the award show on Sunday at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary.

He took home the award over the aforementioned Exco Levi (Hello Mama), Kreesha Turner (Sexy Gal feat. T.O.K) Lyndon John X (Escape From the Mongoose Gang) and Dubmatix (French Sessions).

Nah Complain, produced by Sing N Act Entertainment, topped reggae charts in Canada and the United States.

Kafinal, whose given name is Jeffery Williams, has been a recording artist for two decades; growing up in Portmore before relocating to Toronto

In March, Kafinal released the single, Crying Out For Love featuring legendary Jamaican artistes, Yellowman and Ken Boothe.
