Konshens and Charly Black Share A New Single for the Ladies with “Gyal Time Again”

As curfews and quarantines lift,
so do the vibes for ladies who
love dancehall. The genre’s
leading ladies men, Konshens
and Charly Black have officially
collaborated for the first time to
bring us a new single titled “Gyal
Time Again.” The single is a sexy,
high-energy, girls anthem, which
takes us on a journey through
dancehall’s most loved drum
patterns over the years. It is
produced by Staxx, a Miami
based music producer known for
work with Jada Kingdom,
Masicka, Mavado, Vybz Kartel and
more. Combining Staxx’s
extensive experience with multi
genre music, Konshens and Black worked to create a song that would take us back to the well
loved and highly missed – gyal segment.
In today’s climate of disappointed women who feel the dancehall has begun to only cater to
badness, and flossing, the song is a tribute to dancehall’s female patrons that are fully back
outside. “For me, gyal time never stop.” says Konshens, referencing dancehall culture that
has veered away from songs that exclusively entertain women. “The frustration start (to)
build up with women not feeling like the selectors are catering to them, so it's the perfect
time for this song to drop. We are bringing back that party music and the sexy identity of
dancehall,” says Konshens.

Originally from Kingston, Jamaica, Konshens has become one of dancehall’s most recognized
voices, predominantly making music for the ladies with singles such as “Bruk off Yuh Back,”
“Turn Me On,” and “Bassline.” His status has become a global proliferator of dancehall vibes
on the world’s music stage.
Hailing from Jamaica’s north western parish of Trelawny, Charly Black was originally a sound
system selector working with Bass Odyssey Sound. In recent years he has crossed over to
global fame. His smash ladies anthem “Party Animal” became a top 20 hit on pop and dance
charts in 2016. Black is also known for the hit single “Wine,” released in 2019.
Released independently, “Gyal Time Again” sets the pace for 2022’s summertime gyal
segments to come. It is now available for download and streaming on all digital platforms.
More on Staxx
Staxx is a third generation music producer hailing from the legendary Studio One family. His
grand-uncle Coxsone Dodd, was an influential Jamaican record producer who was a crucial
player in the development of ska and reggae in the 1950s and 60s. As a youth, Staxx’s
grandmother Enid Cumberland, from the duet Keith and Enid, introduced him to his iconic
Studio One family being the first one to bring him to the studio. In the ninth grade, Staxx’s
grand-aunt, Norma Dodd, encouraged him to take an administrative summer job at Studio
One as a legal aid. This is when the young musician realized he wanted to produce music of
his own and follow in the footsteps of his family history. Satxx’s credits over the years now
include work with Downsound Records, developing projects for Ninjaman, Ishawna, Kacique
and Specialist as well as studio albums for Agent Sasco, Runkus, Stalk Ashley, Antwain and
more. Now the co-owner of the record label, Plum Music, with Ryan ‘Music’ Dillon, Zion and
Rocket Carl, Staxx has broken into the realm of film and TV with recent placements on “They
Call it Magic,” “The Wilds,” “Rap Shit,” and more. He is currently producing at his Plum House
Recording Studio, located in Miami, and managing recording artist, Lola Jaan.
