Dancehall artiste Sean Paul will hire famed director Little X to shoot Hold My Hand in an attempt to bolster album sales hitting a quarter-million. It will be the third time that both men will collaborate on a music video. X was credited for exposing Paul to a wider audience via the video, Gimme the Light. That song was a hit along with I’m Still In Love, also directed by Little X.

X, born Julien Christian Lutz, is a Canadian music video director of Trinidadian and Swiss descent. A protégé of Hype Williams, Little X is known for his fast-paced and high-budget videos.

“We are going to shoot the video next week,” manager Jeremy Harding told Splash.

Paul’s new album, Imperial Blaze, has been selling in Japan and Europe, but not to a similar degree in the US. It currently has “236,000 albums” shipped “not including digital for everywhere outside the US,” according to industry data corroborated by Harding. “We are very pleased with our sales so far; the international sales are very encouraging,” added Harding on the global performance of the album. The album debuted at # 1 on Billboard reggae charts, # 1 in Japan, # 4 in Switzerland, # 4 in Mexico on itunes, # 5 in Canada and # 8 in France.

Imperial Blaze has given Sean Paul his third consecutive number one album on the Billboard Reggae album chart. In its opening week, US sales hit 28,465 copies. The sales impact, though, is not as huge as his previous opening in 2005
