Acclaimed Jamaica reggae band, Morgan Heritage, has topped Billboard magazine’s Reggae Album chart for the first time in seven years with its newly-released album, Strictly Roots.
The all-sibling-member group, featuring Peetah Morgan, Una Morgan, Roy “Gramps” Morgan, Nakhamyah “Lukes” Morgan and Memmalatel “Mr. Mojo” Morgan has previously been on the chart seven times, with their 2008 compilation, Mission In Progress, being the last album to reach the peak of the chart. Their last studio album, Here Come The Kings reached as high as number two following its 2013 release.
Strictly Roots was released on the band’s CTBC (Cool To Be Conscious) label on April 20 and features the likes of Shaggy, Jo Mersa Marley, Chronixx, Jemere Morgan as well as the lead singers of American reggae bands, Rebelution and SOJA.
To promote the album, Morgan Heritage has been embarking on the Strictly Roots world tour, which has made stops in the United States and Europe.
