After Morgan Heritage reached the pinnacle of their long-standing career by winning their first Grammy award on Monday, the outpouring of love and congratulations for their success from industry peers and fans was endless.
Pashon Minott, however, isn’t too enthused about it.
Minott, the mother of two children for the group’s lead singer, Peetah Morgan offered congratulations to the quintet for their Grammy win, but took an opportunity to take Morgan to task for allegedly being a deadbeat father to his kids.
On an Instagram post by the Jamaica STAR highlighting the achievement, Minott wrote, “Congrats to you #MorganHeritage! Job well done! You’re great singers who work hard and no one can deny that. Now please talk some sense into your lead singer #PeetahMorgan in being a father to his daughters Destiny and Journey who have not seen him in 9 yrs.”
She continued, “Like I said before, he doesn’t know how they eat or if they are still alive. #Congrats#Grammys #StrictlyRoots #AwesomeSinger #BadDad #Bye #FreedomOfSpeech #DoneChat.”
Minott, the daughter of late reggae legend, Sugar Minott didn’t stop there. She went on her own Instagram Tuesday evening to post disparaging videos of Morgan, using an actor to play Morgan while mocking him as a bad father and branding him ‘Pirate Morgan.’
For his part, Morgan offered a calm response, telling IRIE FM, “It’s alright, she knows how to contact me.”
Morgan Heritage’s Grammy win was announced at the 58th Grammy Awards pre-show in Los Angeles Monday afternoon. The group beat Jah Cure, Luciano, Barrington Levy and Ghanaian singer, Rocky Dawuni for the honour.
