Nesbeth, Popcaan among big winners at IRAWMA 2016

Prominent reggae singer, Nesbeth continues to realize his musical dreams as he has been named the winner of the ‘Best Song’ award at the 2016 International Reggae and World Music Awards for his smash hit, My Dream.

The veteran artiste was one of the big winners at the show, which was held at the Coral Gables Arts Center in Florida last Sunday. Other winners on the night included arguably dancehall’s hottest property right now, Popcaan, who Entertainer of The Year and his former mentor, dancehall superstar, Vybz Kartel who won the Best Male DJ/Rapper honour. Dancehall’s leading lady at the moment, Spice won Best Female DJ/Rapper while reggae queen, Etana won the Best Female Vocalist award.

Grammy-winning band, Morgan Heritage won the Best Album/CD award for Strictly Roots while Sia and Sean Paul won the honour of Best Crossover Song for Cheap Thrills.

Additionally, there were four recipients of the Martin’s International IRAWMA Lifetime Award for contribution to music: Singer, author and fashionista, Cedella Marley, former Third World drummer and producer, Willie Stewart; revered disc jockey, G.T. Taylor and rocksteady group, The Cables.
