Cheerleader, the chart-topping debut single by Jamaican singer, Omi has earned even greater acclaimed as a remix of the single by German disc jockey, Felix Jaehn has been certified platinum in Sweden.
The single was certified four times platinum by Sweden’s national record chart, Sverigetopplistan. It has sold over 160,000 copies in the Scandanavian country.
Omi, whose real name is Omar Samuel Pasley, was ecstastic with the news, tweeting, “4 X Platinum…… I have the Greatest Team and Fans ever.”
Signed to Ultra Music, a subdivision of American label, Sony Music, Omi continues to experience unprecedented success with Cheerleader nearly three years after its initial release. The original version of the song topped charts in Jamaica and across the Caribbean, while the Felix Jaehn remix of the track has reached number one on charts across Denmark, Australia, Holland and the aforemention Sweden. The song is also platinum in Australia.
Since then, Omi has released notable singles such as another chart-topper, Fireworks and Colour of my Lips, alongside Busy Signal.
