Semojrah Naki – Warriors Don’t Cry – Official Video –
A Toronto, Canada based indie reggae label named IsRoyal Records has embarked on a new project with rising Rastafarian reggae artist Semojrah Naki. This project is produced by Dada Supreme, a producer fairly new to the reggae scene; and Winston Axe Perry, a legend in his own right – whom at the age of 16, worked with Bunny Wailer in recording songs titled Children of Zion andStraight and Narrow Way. |
Their first time meeting was at an event attended by both Dada Supreme and Semojrah Naki. Here, the artist performed and the producer saw his potential. After a brief introduction Dada Supreme invited Semojrah to IsRoyal Records to voice on a compilation – which is still in the making. Impressed with Semojrah’s delivery the company decided to work on a single project with him. In the words of Dada Supreme, “we couldn’t resist, it only made sense an artist of his caliber should be exposed to a bigger market”. The Riddim was originally created by Dada Supreme, and Axe – who is not only an artist but also a master of live instruments. With his added ‘touch’ and ‘flavor’, the riddim was presented to Semojrah. Upon hearing it Semojrah automatically found a hook for it: Warriors Don’t Cry – an equally bold and catchy hook. |
The more time spent between Semojrah and theIsRoyal Records team the stronger their bond developed. This lead to a comfort level, which created the opportunity for expanding on the single Warriors Don’t Cry by shooting a music video with their in-house production team Strong Lion Films. |
