Legendary Jamaican sprinter, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, has stunned the track and field world as she announced Wednesday via social media that she is pregnant with her first child.
In a message to her fans on Facebook, the two-time Olympic 100 m champion said, “All my focus heading into training for my 2017 season was on getting healthy and putting myself in the best possible fitness to successfully defend my title in London 2017 (world championships). But life is filled with many blessings with God. So here I am thinking about being the greatest mother I can be with my biggest blessing and the promise God made me.”
Fraser-Pryce vowed that she will return to action in 2018 as she now focuses on motherhood.
“Moving forward on this journey, I look forward to seeing you all in 2018 when I return to competition on the tracks and around the World. Thank you to my sponsors NIKE, GraceKennedy and Digicel for their unwavering support and a loyal fan base that’s willing to join and share in my journey.” she said.
Shelly is the two-time defending 100 m champion at the IAAF world championships in athletics and won bronze in the women’s 100 m as well as silver in the women’s 4 x 100 m at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
