Tito Jackson performed at the 17th annual Jamaica’s Reggae Sumfest over the weekend (25/26Jul09) before accepting a lifetime achievement award on behalf of his tragic brother Michael.
The Thriller hitmaker’s elder sibling took to the stage to perform with The Funk Brothers band as part of the festival in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Following the King of Pop’s untimely demise last month (25Jun09), organisers of Sumfest devoted the ceremony to honouring his career – and they roped in Tito to collect the star’s lifetime achievement prize. Other performers at the bash included Toni Braxton and Nas, who insists he will never forget the superstar singer.
He tells Entertainment Tonight, “I only spoke to Michael on the phone but that was still great. (I’m a) big fan of Michael, Mike lives on forever.”
