Dancehall superstar, Vybz Kartel continues to rack up the accolades despite his extended incarceration on murder charges as he has made it to the Billboard Hot 100 chart thanks to his feature on the single, Not Nice by Grammy-nominated Canadian hip-hop star, PartyNextDoor.
Not Nice has peaked at number 83 on the prestigious chart and is produced by international producer, Dre Skull. The song includes a sample from an unreleased Vybz Kartel song, drawing inspiration from his 2011 single, Girl You Too Bad on the Friendly Fire Riddim.
An Instagram post by Dre Skull expressed gratitude to PartyNextDoor for making this collaboration happen.
“New PARTYNEXTDOOR single Not Nice features a sample from an unreleased song from me and Vybz … big thanks to Party … for bringing me into this. Honoured to play a small part #notnice.”
PartyNextDoor most recently visited Jamaica, where his mother was born, last December to perform at the annual Major Lazer and Friends concert at Mas Camp in Kingston.
This marks the second time Vybz Kartel has charted on the Billboard Hot 100, previously accomplishing the feat in 2009 with Romping Shop alongside Spice. The achievement was marred in controversy, however, as it was banned from being played on radio by the Broadcasting Commission at one point due to its raunchy lyrical content and was caught up in a copyright dispute as it used the rhythm from the smash hit, Miss Independent by R&B singer/songwriter, Ne-Yo.
