Jamaican singer, Kris Kelli has penned a deal with MMG Digital, a newly-formed label formed by acclaimed American rap star, Rick Ross.
MMG Digital is a subsidiary of Ross’ Maybach Music Group label and features another Jamaican act, Magazeen, formerly known as Reagan. Both labels fall under the Atlantic Records umbrella.
Kelli, 31, who shot to fame in 2003 and 2004 with hits such as Fame (feat. Vybz Kartel), Step Up and Sweet Intro, has been living in Atlanta for several years now, re-branding her image while recording with local hip-hop label,Block Entertainment, joint with Bad Boy South, a subsidiary of Bad Boy Records. While with the label, she released the EP, Third World.
The self-proclaimed ‘Queen of Dutty Pop’ is currently promoting her new single with Ross entitled Me & You, which samples the classic hip hop single, You’re All I Need by Mary J. Blige and Method Man.
In the meantime, Kelli is expected to release her new EP, 3rd World Problem in the near future, which features the single, Old Yella and promises more new material under the MMG Digital brand.
